1. About Jiro

I am a Japanese calligraphy instructor based in Amsterdam, passionate about sharing the beauty and philosophy of shodō — the traditional Japanese art of brush writing.
Through my workshops, I help participants experience mindfulness, balance, and artistic expression through simple yet profound strokes of ink.

I have practiced calligraphy for over 15 years, and I teach both beginners and advanced learners.
Whether you are looking to understand the meaning behind kanji, learn brush techniques, or create your own art piece, I will guide you step by step in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

2. What I Offer

(1) Japanese Calligraphy Workshop

Learn how to hold the brush, control ink flow, and write your favorite characters.
Participants can choose meaningful words like “peace,” “dream,” or their own names in kanji.
At the end of the session, you’ll take home your finished calligraphy artwork.
Fee guideline: €200 / 90 minutes (includes materials and tools)

(2) Private Lesson (1-on-1)

Tailored lessons for those who want to continue learning at their own pace.
Focus can be on technique improvement, brush control, or creating art for exhibitions.
Fee guideline: €120 / 60 minutes (online or in-person)

(3) Group Workshop for Schools / Companies

Interactive cultural sessions perfect for schools, cultural events, or corporate team-building.
I can provide short lectures on the history of shodō and its connection to mindfulness and design.
